Join Our Team of Volunteer Drivers!
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Become a volunteer driver with HarGo Rides and help make a difference in the lives of seniors in Harford County! Our volunteer drivers are the heart of our organization, providing safe, friendly, and reliable transportation to seniors who need it most. Not only will you be helping seniors stay active and independent, but you’ll also be forming connections and friendships that make a lasting impact.

By giving just a few hours of your time, you can help seniors get to their medical appointments, run errands, or attend social events, ensuring they remain connected to their community. Plus, volunteering is a great way to meet new people, give back to your community, and make a real difference!
Volunteer Driver Requirements:
To ensure the safety and well-being of our riders, all volunteer drivers must meet the following criteria:
- Attend volunteer orientation
- Be 25 years of age or older
- Have 3 points or fewer on their driver’s license
- Have valid automobile insurance
- Be interested in working with seniors
- Be capable of maintaining confidentiality
- Pass criminal background and driver record checks
Background Check Results Disqualifiers
To maintain a safe and supportive environment, the following disqualifiers will prevent someone from serving as a volunteer:
- Sex Offenses
- Felony Violence
Volunteers will also be prohibited for certain periods if found guilty of the following offenses
- Felony offenses within the last 10 years (other than violence or sex offenses)
- All misdemeanor drug and alcohol offenses within the past 5 years, or multiple offenses in the past 10 years
- All misdemeanor violence offenses within the past 7 years
- Any other misdemeanor within the past 5 years that could pose a potential danger to seniors or relate to the volunteer role
Anyone currently charged with or awaiting court settlement for any of the disqualifying offenses cannot volunteer until the case is resolved in accordance with our policy guidelines.
